DENVER, Colo., August 21, 2007 – IP Commerce, Inc., a software company enabling open commerce services between businesses, announced today that it will begin serving the enterprise retail market with the introduction of its Commerce Toolkit for Multi-Channel Retail (MCR). Through a single integration, retailers can now deliver multiple e-commerce payment options for an improved customer experience, higher revenue opportunity at check-out, and potential realization of cost savings through more choice of payment types and reduced integration overhead. This complete e-commerce solution includes traditional and alternative payments, and provides for compliance with Payment Application Best Practices (PABP), a sub-set of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standard.
Commerce Toolkit for MCR is designed to significantly reduce set-up costs, downtime and internal IT project load. It also helps solve many of the current pain points for enterprise retailers, including service connectivity and provisioning, and compliance. Services include bank card processing, electronic check processing, stored value and gift cards, and express checkout.
IP Commerce works with system integrators, independent software developers and solution providers to deliver this solution to the market. Through a single integration, Commerce Toolkit for MCR provides dual connections to the IP Commerce platform technology and enterprise retail platforms such as Microsoft Commerce Server 2007. The service-oriented architecture (SOA) provided by IP Commerce allows retailers to easily add new payment types or convert legacy payment integrations as business needs arise. The technology augments a retailer’s existing payment options, such as bank card processing, and enables them to leverage the IP Commerce portfolio of payment processors for a fully integrated solution.
In the future, Commerce Toolkit for MCR will provide retailers with consistent and deeper payment servicing and reporting across all channels including in-store, online, and catalog as well as new channels like mobile/smart phones, kiosks/points of service, and online marketplaces or social networks. Payment types will be configurable on an individual channel level or across a multi-channel environment.
“Recognizing the growing popularity of electronic and alternative payment types with retailers, IP Commerce has created a simplified way for retailers to quickly take advantage of the opportunities these payment types offer – namely an improved customer experience and reduced implementation costs,” said David Barkwell, director of enterprise retail at IP Commerce. “Based on the one-to-many principle, Commerce Toolkit for MCR eliminates the need for expensive, customized and time-consuming integrations every time a retailer wishes to add a new payment alternative.”
Commerce Toolkit for MCR provides:
- Simple integration to a plug-and-play network of leading payment service providers
- More payment choices for end customers – traditional and alternative
- Immediate provisioning of new payment types as they become available
- Rapid compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standard and Payment Application Best Practices (PABP)
- Lower cost of ownership realized through the benefits of a service-oriented architecture
“When it comes to enterprise retail industry trends and payments, it has become very clear that retailers want to offer new alternative payments without compromising security, and at the same time, consumers are increasingly demanding ease of use and speed at checkout,” said Chip Kahn, CEO of IP Commerce. “Our entry into the enterprise retail market demonstrates the value of the IP Commerce platform technology, and the flexibility of our service-oriented architecture in opening access to more services to simplify the world of commerce for yet another audience.”
