DENVER, March 12, 2007 – IP Commerce, Inc., a software company enabling open payment services between businesses, today introduced a new version of its IPPF Secure Payments SDK that now includes support for the Windows Vista™ operating system. The IPPF Secure Payments SDK, part of the company’s IP Payments Framework® (IPPF), provides developers and independent software vendors (ISVs) with the ability to easily and cost-effectively commerce-enable a variety of financial management and commerce applications that function on the Windows Vista and XP operating systems. This SDK advances a new baseline for security expectations, behavior and user experience for the payments industry.

The IPPF Secure Payments SDK dramatically reduces the time and cost associated with the application development process by removing the barriers posed by traditional, one-off integrations with disparate payment service providers. This “write once, sell to many” approach allows developers to focus on their core competencies, like workflow and business logic, because so much of the development work is already done for them. That means faster and less expensive application development which translates into competitive advantage, and broader, deeper channel development opportunities.

Another benefit to developers is immediate access to an ecosystem of top-tier participants in IPPF. Once a developer writes an application using the IPPF Secure Payments SDK, they can plug into IPPF and begin collaboration with top-tier participants, such as payment processors or merchant acquirers, eliminating what would otherwise be a very lengthy process to establish relationships with financial industry giants.

In addition to the core features of the IPPF Secure Payments SDK, developers can create new applications or enhance existing ones by leveraging the following Windows Vista components:

  • Windows Security Center– allows developers to build payment applications that monitor the Windows Security Center and provide status and/or workflows to drive end users into making informed decisions when they are processing transactions in potentially non-secure desktop environments.
  • Integrated Desktop Search– drives commerce-related search results when the user leverages Windows Vista search capabilities. Developer solutions are discoverable on the user’s desktop through Windows Vista Instant Search.

“Using the IPPF Secure Payments SDK took months off of our development time. We didn’t have to become experts at technology that is peripheral to what we do – the SDK took care of that,” said Rick Robshaw, co-founder of Club Prophet Systems, the first Windows-based point-of-sale system specifically designed for golf pro shop operations. “Creating a new application for Windows Vista could have been a daunting task, but the IPPF Secure Payments SDK for Windows Vista removed any technical concerns.”

Club Prophet used the IPPF Secure Payments SDK to develop the bank card processing service for Chase Paymentech in less than two months, reducing the time to develop similar applications by 66 percent. This application is offered through PASS Commerce Center, which runs exclusively on the Windows Vista operating system.

“This new version of the IPPF Secure Payments SDK is a giant leap forward for the developer community and IP Commerce. The ability to quickly and easily create commerce-enabled applications for the new Windows Vista operating system and new Office 2007 products is the next wave of opportunity,” said Chip Kahn, CEO of IP Commerce. “As more and more partners join the IP Payments Framework, the more choice there will be for the participants and end users consuming these exciting new commerce offerings.”

The new IPPF Secure Payments SDK also addresses compliance guidelines which are becoming increasingly essential for businesses that store, process or transmit cardholder data. The IPPF Secure Payments SDK provides a set of components for building and preparing payment applications to be in compliance with Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) and meet the requirements of the PCI (Payment Card Industry) Data Security Standard. It offers PABP compliance-enabled technology to help developers achieve and verify payment security best practices at the application layer where transactions originate. A rapid compliance program, only available to applications using the IPPF Secure Payments SDK, is offered by Coalfire Systems, Inc., a leading information security solutions provider and Qualified Security Assessor.
