Tim Attinger

Market Platform Dynamics

Tim is a Managing Director for Market Platform Dynamics with the Firm’s San Francisco office. In this capacity Tim advises executives of global clients on innovation and growth strategies, establishing corporate direction, finding and assessing partners, and catalyzing new product development.

Prior to joining Market Platform Dynamics, Tim was Global Head of Product Innovation and Development for Visa Inc. In this capacity, Tim was the executive lead of a worldwide new revenue enterprise for the world’s largest payments company. His global responsibilities included product strategy, platform development, and business management for product innovation, security solutions, healthcare and IP strategy. Tim was also responsible for building global organizations, and managing the corporate P&L, for the global business units of money transfer, mobile commerce, and eCommerce. This capacity included negotiation of global contracts with key technology companies and development of partnership strategy for corporate development. Tim also helped lead the project to define Visa’s long-term corporate strategy prior to incorporation, and was a presenter on the road show for Visa Inc’s initial public offering, the largest IPO in US history. Tim was also a keynote presenter to global conferences and frequent spokesman to investors, analysts and media.

Prior to his global role with Visa Inc, Tim was SVP of Product Innovation and Development for Visa USA, Visa’s largest regional operating unit. In this role Tim led a group that was responsible for analyzing industry, competitor and stakeholder trends through research, market intelligence, and competitor intelligence. The group also established direction and strategy for Visa’s product innovation and development activities --including marketplace segmentation, solution definition, pilot management, new business development, strategic initiative management, and new product development and deployment activities-- for Visa’s consumer and business products as well as for emerging product and service platforms. Tim’s major innovation responsibilities included strategy and delivery for prepaid products, mobile payments, bill payments, chip initiatives, and loyalty platform services, as well as delivery of corporate and product strategies for Visa USA.

Tim holds a Master’s degree in American Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from the University of Alabama.

Michael P. Duffy

Chase Paymentech

With more than two decades of payments industry experience, Mike Duffy leads Chase Paymentech Solutions as President and CEO. He assumed this role in 2005 during the integration of Chase Merchant Services and Paymentech. Duffy previously served as President and CEO of the former Paymentech, as well as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Paymentech, he was the Chief Financial Officer at Litle & Company, a credit card processor that later became part of Paymentech. His industry expertise also includes past leadership roles with Equifax Credit Information Services and Equifax Credit Bureau Marketing.

Recognizing the rapid growth rate and consumer demand for alternative payments, Duffy established exclusive processing agreements between Chase Paymentech and PayPal and Bill Me Later - two leading alternative payments sources - enabling merchants to add online transaction processing to their payments mix.

As he is heavily involved within various payment industry organizations, Duffy currently serves as an advisor to the IPCommerce board of directors, as well as a member of the Discover Network Acquirer Advisory Council, the MerchantLink board of directors and the Merchant Risk Council board of directors. In addition, he is a former member of the MasterCard Acquirers Committee and the board of directors for Bill Me Later.

Duffy earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the State University of New York at Albany, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

David Evans

Market Platform Dynamics

David Evans is an economist, business advisor and a recognized global authority on the design and implementation of complex business strategies and business models.

David has more than 25 years of experience helping companies worldwide design business strategies to overcome the “chicken and egg” problem of getting multiple customer groups on board the same platform at the same time. David and his long-time collaborator, Dick Schmalensee of MIT Sloan School of Management, are among the early pioneers in the research of “multi-sided markets” and the economic principles that inform the unique design of business models, pricing and incentive structures, and product design for these platform-based businesses. These insights and the proprietary framework that David developed for multi-sided businesses are the underpinning of his latest book Catalyst Code: The Strategies Behind the World’s Most Dynamic Companies (Harvard Business School Press, May 2007). He has written more than 80 academic papers, articles and op-eds related to this topic.

A frequent keynote speaker, David is often called upon to lead thoughtprovoking industry discussions and to share his insights on the success and failure of businesses worldwide. He has keynoted internationally, in a wide range of executive forums in the payment, digital media and mobile fields.

David is the co-author of several books including Paying with Plastic: The Digital Revolution in Buying and Borrowing (The MIT Press, 2005) which has been called the "definitive source on the payment card industry," and Invisible Engines: How Software Platforms Drive Innovation and Transform Industries (The MIT Press, 2006), which won the award for best business book of 2006 from the Association of American Publishers.

David is a visiting professor at University College London and the University of Chicago. He is the founder of Market Platform Dynamics (MPD), a boutique consulting firm that helps businesses leverage economics and quantitative methods for growth and profit. David has a Ph.D. and undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Chicago. He also serves on the boards of several high-technology companies and is a longtime advisor to some of the largest platform-based companies in the world.

Steve Lucas

SAP

Steve Lucas is the Senior Vice President of BU Sales for North America at SAP, focused on driving customer success with SAP Business Intelligence, Performance Optimization and GRC solutions. Prior to SAP, Steve was the SVP of Force.com marketing and Alliances at Salesforce.com, where he worked to encourage partners, developers and customers to adopt the Force.com platform and enable the next generation of enterprise applications in the cloud. Prior to salesforce.com, Steve devoted 10 years to SAP Business Objects and Crystal Decisions including roles as the Worldwide Vice President of the OnDemand (SaaS) business unit. In a general management role, Steve launched the OnDemand business, including strategy creation, management of the entire business unit and the go to market execution. Over his 10 years at both Crystal Decisions and Business Objects, he led various teams including OEM sales, Partner Channel Management and Data Integration.

Earlier in his career, he worked at Software Spectrum and Microsoft in marketing and senior sales management roles. He has authored several books on Business Intelligence and is a contributor to a number of Business Intelligence publications.

Throughout his career, Steve has worked in the software industry in technical, sales and consulting management capacities. Steve, his wife and two children live in Denver, Colorado.

Stephen Reade

MetaGlobal Group

Stephen Reade is Founder, Chairman and CEO of MetaGlobal Group (MGG), an investment-operating company based in San Francisco and New York City. Reade most recently served as the Global Vice President, General Manager of the Software and Technology Services (STS) business unit at NCR, where he was responsible for developing and managing next-generation global, cross-industry, software and technology services.

Prior to joining NCR, Reade was the Senior Vice President of the Global Product Group at Solidus Networks and the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Grand Central Communications. He has held globally focused executive roles for leading information technology, platform, online services and SaaS companies including Grand Central Communications (Google Voice), FoundryOne, AOL/Netscape, DoubleClick/NetGravity, Creative Labs, and Adobe/Macromedia.

Reade received his B.A. from Colby College and also attended Oxford University/Wadham College and The College of William and Mary.

In addition to advising IP Commerce, Reade is currently an operating advisor to Ingres-VectorWise Inc., and an advisory board member with ZipMark Inc. and AllTrustNetworks, Inc.
